1. Parking Service’s address, hours and telephone number.

Parking Services is located 1 block east of Howard St. and W. Michigan Ave. intersection. (Next to the University Bookstore). Hours of operation are 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday thru Friday. Telephone number is (269) 387-4609. Email is parking@wmich.edu

 

2. Do I have to register my car if I want to park on campus?

Yes. It is required that all vehicles operated by students and faculty/staff be registered with Parking Services.

 

3. The car I have registered is not available, what do I do?

You need to contact Parking Services to receive a temporary permit , at no charge, for the period the registered car will be out of service. You will not receive a temporary permit on another student’s car. Vehicle registration is required to receive the permit.

 

4. Am I a student even though I am not enrolled?

Yes, you are considered a student until you either graduate or leave the university.

 

5. Are tickets written between semesters, holidays, weekends and nights?

Yes, tickets are written throughout the entire year, 24 hours a day, whether school is in session or not. The staff have to report for work, therefore the lots are monitored. There is a seven day grace period at the beginning of each semester in the student lots only.

6. What if I park for just a minute, or a friend or a professor says it is okay to park in the lot?


Even if you only park for a minute or two, the vehicle is still illegally parked, just as if it had been there all day. You would be responsible for the ticket.

 

7. What do I do if I sell my car or have the windshield replaced?


You need to remove the current sticker from the windshield before the car is sold or the windshield is replaced. Bring the sticker, your ID and the registration to the new car into Parking Services for a replacement sticker.

 

8.What do I do if I have a visitor come to see me while I am living on campus?

Parents are issued permits at no charge from either our office or the Police Department, (after normal business hours), parents need to present the vehicle registration and ID to receive the permit. Other visitors will need to purchase a permit to park on campus, they also need to present ID and a vehicle registration. These permits will be issued for 1 to 3 day visits. You will need to accompany the parent/visitor and present your Bronco ID.

 

9. I am a student, but I only take classes after 5:00pm, do I need a permit to park?

Yes, students taking classes after 5:00pm are required to have a student permit to park on campus, unless you choose to park at the meters at Miller Auditorium parking ramp. These are the only meters available to students without a WMU permit. The posted fee must be paid.
